About

Born in 1984 in Istanbul, Dr. İpek Ergen holds a PhD degree in Art Theory, a master’s degree in Art and Design, and a bachelor’s degree in Painting.

In 2009, she was awarded the “Young Painter of the Year” prize. She has had solo shows and has participated in many group shows, art fairs, and juried exhibitions in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, the Netherlands, and Turkiye. Since 2016, she has also worked as an art consultant in Germany.

Her work predominantly involves techniques such as airbrushing, acrylics, ink, and neon paints. She also integrates various materials like gold leaf, resin, diamond dust, and plexiglass into her artworks. Her sources of inspiration range from the animal world to human psychology, from pop surrealism to street art, and from contemporary Japanese art to otaku culture. While her main focus is on human figures, she uses animal figures as symbols of human behaviors in her works. Her subject matter deals with daydreams and Wonderland-like stories. She loves turning her works into a treasure hunting game for the audience, as they are filled with symbols to discover, and at times, hidden layers that can only be revealed under black light.
